Introduction
The name Folktone may already be familiar to many, as they first debuted as a folk music band in the UK in spring 2014 and have been serving their audiences abroad and at home for a long time.
The creation of Folktone Productions is a novel response to a long-standing need. For many years, we have been working to enable folk performers of different cultural backgrounds to get to know each other. As a team it is much easier to manage travel plans, organise educational and entertaining events and more.
The Folktone Productions Team is a friendly group of dedicated folk artists. All members of our association have been part of the dance movement from childhood, working as performers, instructors, costume designers, competition monitors or even as bus drivers.
Our aims
Although the name Folktone Productions sounds foreign to a Hungarian, it is the name of a non-profit association that aims to support and promote Hungarian amateur folk artists and art groups.
Amongst our aims is to create the conditions for folk artists of different cultural backgrounds to get to know and learn from each other.
- To initiate and promote dialogue between folk performers worldwide.
- To organise and conduct traditional cultural events within the EU and UK.
- Carrying out the day-to-day tasks of the association which brings together and assists Hungarian folk performers.
- Organisation and promotion of Hungarian folk craft camps.
- To preserve and transmit our Hungarian folk heritage in collected and recorded form.
- To seek opportunity for professional collectors of Hungarian folk music and dance to educate people worldwide.
- To promote Hungary worldwide as an inclusive, friendly and diverse European country.
